Macedoni Street (ch 9-J)
What is Ed's purpose with Sophie? I mean, it is pretty easy to figure out Edgar Street and Harrison Ave... but why did he get Sophie's address? What do you think she needed that Ed gave her? Do you think she was "worthy" to be on the list? Why or why not? Explain your answer in at least 7 sentences.

Ed's purpose with sophie is to be a friend. It's clear that she's only worried about being an athlete. He is going to be the one to save her from being a complete and total social outcast. I think she is worthy of being on the list. Everyone of them are one way or another. She needs someone an he needs someone in a way they give eachother something each morning
Ed's purpose with Sophie is to make her feel stronger and make her look stronger. He wants to toughen her up. I believe she needs the support. Her father doesnt give her enough support so she feels like she is nothing or is not good enough to do it.
She's worthy to be on the list because she does need help. She needs help accepting who she is, and by Ed giving her an empty shoe box she can wear those. So she can get stronger, and feel stronger. Another reason is she already runs without shoes everyday& maybe having the shoes on affects how she does.
Ed's purpose with Sophie it to give her strength and encouragement. All she was lacking was the confidence to push herself. When Ed leaves her the empty shoe box it symbolizes that she has no reason to be shy or timid about who she is. I do think she does deserves to be on the list. Just like the pain of losing someone or living with fear, being shy can cause the same similar feelings of despair. I also believe that she was chosen because each task was chosen to effect Ed in different ways.
I think Ed's purpose with Sophie is that he finds the girl that he think is right for him. At first he had to witnessed something that was horrible. Second he met up with Mila and helped her out. And last he finds this beautiful girl that could be the one. I think Sophie needed some advice to get out of her turtle shell. Yes I do think she is worthy to be on the list because she is different like everyone else and need to get out of her shell.
So far in the story Ed has had a purpose with every place he goes, so why wouldn't he have a purpose to go here? I believe his purpose with Sophie is to be there for her. She needed someone different and someone to change her life. Ed opened her eyes to new possiblities and helped her push herself. Like the empty shoebox, showed Sophie she didn't need shoes to be a sucessful athlete, she doesn't need shoes to pretend she is something she's not. Being barefoot is what she did best, and was what made her feel right.
Sophie is by far very worthy to be on this list. Ed helped her, and so far, I believe he has helped her the most.
I think that Sophie is worthy of being on the list. Just because you aren't a rape case, doesn't mean that you can't be on there. I think that the reason why she was on the list is because she doesn't believe in herself. & Ed was suppose to be there to tell her that she can do it.
I believe Ed's purpose was to give her encouragement and hope. I believe she is worthy to be on the list because she does need help. She needs help with having confidence. She has problems within herself that could end up tearing her down dramatically. That's why he got her address. Ed gives her confidence and love. More than enough of it.
i think maybe he just wanted to be nice, he wanted to be her friend. I think he is there to help, get stronger and more open. when Ed left her the shoe box it was kind of i sign saying that she can do it no matter what anyone else says. She is better then that.
I think Ed and Sophie are like each other. They both seem lost but found. I believe that Eds purpose with Sophie was to help her figure out who she is and that what she does is spectacular. Ed gave her faith in what she does. I do think that Sophie is worthy enough to be on the list because of her life and what she does. I mean come on, shes the barefoot runner.
